Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

I am inspired by Antrobiótica to have a Leonard Cohen post. In this video there is a brief interview, and then a performance of “I’m Your Man.” Cohen says in the interview that one’s métier is one’s locus of self-respect, and in the end one does not write ‘for oneself’ or ‘for others’ but for the work.

While we are discussing classic musicians of the twentieth century, I must not neglect to point out Absorbant’s posts on Harry Belafonte and of Miriam Makeba. Listen to the Belafonte interview, it is really interesting. In case you cannot hear it, Ask This Black Woman has transcribed some highlights.

Axé.

  1. I am brazen, but you are not the first one! 😉

Since we are such intimates now, here is the reason for squeezing in: the name profacero is short, whereas the post title is long, and that combination makes the ‘recent comments’ section look raggedy – I am obsessive about style matters like that – so I squeeze my comments on peoples’ comments on posts with long titles, in with theirs, so that I do not have to look at a raggedy right hand edge of the page. I do not know why I am obsessive like that with web pages – I am otherwise a clean-nik but not a neat-nik – but I am that way about web pages.

  2. !Jajajaja! Actually, when I saw that, I thought Javascript had gone crazy – except that WordPress does not have Javascript. No, your longass moniker doesn’t mess it up – it is my shortass one which does. But then I am short in real life, as well.

  3. I am even shorter, so there. But these heights are not short, even for European-descended entities, here in Louisiana, that is to say, in the westernmost piece of France.

  4. wow, really? so odd. i also find it odd when people tell me i am not short in any context. i guess you are right, there is always shorter. my nanita was 4′ 11′. height was in issue in my life for too long. my mother said she relaxed once i hit five feet.
