Summer

We took canoes down a bayou to the Gulf and walked working beaches. The other vessels were tugboats, crew boats, barges, shrimpers, and pirogues with outboard motors. There were seagulls, sandpipers, cormorants, egrets, and pelicans of many sizes. Swimming alongside us came thirteen dolphins, some quite small, somersaulting around and around. Intrepid children swam way out.

Axé.

  1. Summer is almost over in this summer city and I miss my New Orleans too much. It won’t be that humid there.

    1. 🙂 I feel I have frittered too much of the summer away but I did also roast hot dogs, catch shrimp, and go to a dance this weekend. Rise up singing, spread your wings, take to the sky, says the song, and it does give chills…

    1. …and FernandoandJean capsized their canoe, and Fernando cut his hand on some underwater vestige of an oilfield installation, so JeanandInga drove Fernando into town to a walk-in clinic where he had 12 stitches and got antibiotics to protect him from the blood poisoning barnacle, and the little, goat-footed balloon-man whistled far and wee.
