Antenor Orrego, Mi encuentro con César Vallejo

This is another valuable, photocopied book that I am recycling. And there are things in it like photographs of the cover of first edition of Rusia en 1931. Reflexiones al pie del Kremlin, marvelously ’30s, and a Soviet postcard to Orrego. I will keep some of these things. There are also all of Orrego’s journalistic articles. He is one of the people who insist on Vallejo’s Americanism, and it is worth reviewing the arguments as they were made then. I think I want this book, I wish I owned it, I may rehabilitate and keep this photocopy, “…yes I will Yes.”

At some point my copy of Seiferle’s translation of Trilce was destroyed but I kept the blurbs. Geoffrey Gordon O’Brien called Vallejo a “high priest of heresy.” And so on. I understand why I couldn’t work on him but I really wish I could have, could have broken through the negativity of the atmosphere I was in then.

Axé.
