A local radio station is attempting to instill pride of place in children.
Announcer: Have you ever had to go somewhere else and missed home?
Children: Yes. We went to Georgia once and it was so strange. The coffee was not the same brand as we have in Louisiana, and it was very hard to get used to.
Announcer: Isn’t it wonderful that you already know where you want to be. You will never have to have the experience of living elsewhere and experiencing homesickness, because you know now that you do not want to leave in the first place.
So many students credit me with having gotten them out of Louisiana when in fact I did not lift a finger to accomplish this. They say that it is not what I did, but what I did not do, namely criticize their interest in exploration.
