I have gone back to work today, and I was going to post something related to that. Instead, what I have is Lila Downs in a recording session. Agua de rosas is the song. It is fun to see her in this informal setting, almost like a rehearsal although, of course, it is quite serious.
Today is Friday, Oxalá’s day.
Axé.
I LOVE Lila Downs! In fact, I picked up one of her CD’s on my too-short trip to Portland at the Global Exchange on Hawthorne, and have been listening to it non-stop since then.
And what a great video!
The tradition of the South American Harp is not often spoken about, its a vital aspect to most of the music, and is heard in the most diverse situations over the whole continent.
Nice! I’ll be purchasing this.
Wonderful! I just have one of her cd’s, so hadn’t heard this song. I am glad to have a visual sense of her — a beautiful woman with a powerful vocal presence — and the rest of the musicians.
