Early on we see a young Oscar Ghiglia. The video heats up when Segovia loses patience with another student and bursts into Spanish. At the end comes the key comment, on “the delicate lack of respect we have for the rhythm – a lack of respect which defines both the good and the bad artist.”
Axé.
I was privileged to hear Segovia play at several concerts when I was a teenage music student and usher at the San Francisco Symphony in the 50’s.
I spent most of 1965 in Spain as a rather small being, but I did not know then of A. Segovia.
Are you from S.F.?
Yep. I’m from the Bay Area but have not lived there since 1964. I get back to SF from time to time, however. I’m planning to be there in January.
You had a dream job, Hattie. I mean that.
