Toscanini/Beethoven: 9th Symphony

There has been a coup d’état, and Professor Zero has been captured. Reading for Pleasure Wednesday has been suspended. If Professor Zero is released by the weekend, she will sing. If not, you will continue to listen to Beethoven. We join Professor Zero in recommending that despite the circumstances you do watch this archival footage and listen to this historic concert, as it is very good.

  1. Momo sent Professor Zero this video to watch in jail:

It is of tiny, tiny ponies. We find it silly, although not objectionable. She finds it charming and comforting.

  2. Charges against Z include not having really started her conference paper and being slightly behind in class! Problems of Z include more candidate visits!

  3. And happy April fool’s day to you, too!

Here is my April 2nd fools day (for very, very late fools): Kevin Rudd has kindly conceded that since Mugga-Bugga needs a country to run, and will not be satisfied simply to step down from office, that he can have Australia to experiment with.

  4. April Fools are those Miniature Horse Foals. One thinks he is a Bucking Bronco and runs around just like one, small though he is.

    What? Mugabe moving to Australia?

  5. Is it in the news (I’ve only looked at BBC) … is Mugabe already in Malaysia?

  6. Ah, a rumor.

The words “Release Professor Zero” and also “Free Professor Zero” are the greatest symphony there is, to Professor Zero’s ears. She has not yet been released, however.

  7. I hope that whoever has Professor Zero in their custody is feeding her. The pictures of Ms. Betancourt are very disturbing.
