Claire Denis. La autopista del Sur. Emmanuèle Bernheim. We got here on a suggestion from the Spanish Professor. I have things set up now so I can see art films on two screens and this film is good for that since it is very painterly, with thick textures.
In this film you have to notice things such as how the cigarette and the heater, which do not occupy the same space-time, light up at once – as another character draws a breath and the camera takes half a step back. Sometimes I think all films should be in French.
Axé.
I need to start a side gig as a film recommender. Have you seen any Wong Kar Wai movie? For example, Happy Together? Just a hunch.
Have heard of and am convinced would like but have not seen. (I am behind on all film due to not having had the currently invented setup – wherein I have seen Berlin Alexanderplatz and this, twice.) You could have a site like Feminema’s, she has not seen all film. You could claim it as “service to the profession” – I am not quite joking!
It wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I would have to abandon pseudoanonimity.
