Here is the ficha de inscripción for the 2012 festival de cine de Lima, which is August 3-11.
It would be fun go to this festival, but fares are high and routes inconvenient; it is actually easier and hardly more expensive to go to Argentina or Chile. Flights to Mexico and Guatemala are fully half the cost to Buenos Aires and Santiago, and Brazil is out of the question.
San Juan and Panama City are cheaper to get to, and Panama City is slightly closer to Maringouin than either California or the Antilles. Therefore, I am now researching travel in the Darien Gap [I am deadpanning, but you cannot tell].
From Panama City one would take a bus, perhaps, to La Palma, capital of Darién Province. Here is the view from an apparent hostel in La Palma. From there one would go further, staying here in Sambu.
What do you think would be the most interesting – that, or to cross into the Petén, in Guatemala, by canoe across the river that separates it from the state of Chiapas, in Mexico?
Axé.
Thanks for the links. Those places look really interesting!.
After an immediate moment of gratification my brain started singing:
“I would like to be there, I would like
To be here,
I would like to be everywhere at once.
I know that’s a contradiction in terms,
And it’s a problem, especially when
My body’s clearing forty as my mind is
Nearing ten.
I can hardly stay up, and I can’t get to
Sleep,
And I don’t want to wake tomorrow
Morning
At the bottom of some heap,
But why take it so seriously?
After all, there’s nothing at
Stake here-only me.
I want to be young, and I want to be Old.
I would like to be wise before my time
And yet be foolish and brash and bold.
I would like the universe to get down
On it’s knees
And say, ‘Honey, whatever you please,
It’s okay. Even if it’s impossible, we’ll
Arrange it.’
That’s all that I want……”
Talking about cine. Tonight there is the very nice “Dr Zhivago” movie on TVE. It is sort of “peculiar” or amusing how that Channel is advertising the movie:
” No esperes un final feliz. Las más bellas historias de amor nunca lo tienen”.
Hahahaha… my daughter said…”Then, I’m not going to watch it”.
She doesn’t know that she’s the result of one of those beautiful love stories…
