Low Technology

Out of laziness I went to a large meeting with no recording device and no computer, and took notes entirely by hand. My notes were better than ever and I was totally alert – as alert as in large lecture classes as an undergraduate. I had not felt so young, intelligent and competent for some time.

Driving home I realized I have a second source of low tech power this week – my ATM card is lost and the new one is not coming for five days. This means that on Friday, I must go in person to the bank to get cash for the long weekend – as in the old-old days.

I felt true power then, knowing I would be at the bank before closing time and have cash like an old time working man, and it will be the weekend, and it is Carnival weekend, and we will sing.

Axé.
