Z’s tips for living

Weeks ago, someone left one of these in black and gray plaid over here. I have no idea whose it is and I have finally tried it on; I am keeping it and I recommend it. It is a medium and really I should wear a small, but it will do; it is incredibly warm and secretly fashionable. This is apparently a brand of clothes for working men so it completes my winter outfit: DKNY jeans, Dansko heels, and the shirt. Honestly this brand of clothes is more chic in person than on the website and if the shirt were a little smaller I would teach in it; as it is, it is outerwear or wear to keep heating costs down in the house. I do recommend the brand and this fashion concept.

My achievement this month has been getting some help for the Aged ones and insisting they accept it. This has not been easily done and every move I have made was announced to my many Facebook friends, some of whom are people I actually know and some of whom are not, and they have commented on strategies and helped to edit every document. I have told Hattie she should cut herself a break and take care of herself as I did in my teens and twenties, when I had basically decided that the only way I would get through college and graduate school was if I took care of my strength the way a serious athlete should. The Aged ones thought it was self indulgent as I was so much stronger than they had been at the same age, but I am right and I should start taking the advice I gave Hattie myself, instantly; so should you.

→ I am reading this book my sister assigned as a description of our family and which is not uninteresting in that way; it is more interesting, I am finding, as a description of work. This is why I am so glad I have this plaid shirt now. I have also been noticing how the working class works and they do not take breaks as often as I do — they plow on through. And Tanya wants us to limit the work week to 40 hours, and here is what I notice about that: if you work 7 days, 40/7 = 5.71. Also, 40/6 = 6.67. 40/4 = 10 and 40/3 = 13.34. Look at all of these options. The six-day one has long been my favorite since it allows you time during the week and even during business hours to do other things. I also enjoy a seven day modification of that: 7.5 hours Monday through Thursday = 30 + 5 hours Friday and 2.5 hours each Saturday and Sunday = 40.

Axé.
