Azgoddess likes Erzulie so we will post from the 2006 Festa de Iemanjá in Rio Vermelho, Salvador, Bahia, Brasil, as Iemanjá is Erzulie.
Iemanjá here has been incorporated in a male dancer but as you can see, she is still Iemanjá. I like this festival a great deal, and I used to live next to the cove where it is held. My own aldéia is in Cachoeira, and is dedicated to Iansan.
And: there is a Mardi Gras float parked on my street! It comes every year, and it has been here since the weekend. Carnival, as you know, begins at Twelfth Night, and the days leading up to the end, before all of the tourists come into town, are especially beautiful.
