These are the Silencers. The video was shot in 1996, around Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. The song was written in 1947 by Frankie McPeak.
Oh, the summer time is coming,
And the trees are sweetly blooming;
And the wild mountain thyme,
Grows around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
And we’ll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
I will build my love a bower,
By yon clear and crystal fountain;
And on it I will pile,
All the flowers of the mountain.
Will you go, lassie, go?
And we’ll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
If my true love, she won’t have me,
I will surely find another;
To pull wild mountain thyme,
All around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
And we’ll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
Oh, the summer time is coming,
And the trees are sweetly blooming;
And the wild mountain thyme,
Grows around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
And we’ll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather.
Will you go, lassie, go?
Axé.
This lassie will go.
My son walked into my study while this was playing and asked if it was a peace song.
(There’s much talk in our house of peace and war. He hears it on the radio, sees the photos in the paper. We take him to the demos when we go. He hears us talk. He’s four, nearly five.)
I said no, it’s a love song.
Then I thought about it while he watched the video and I added, I think it’s both.
That is so cool, he thought it was a peace song! Love and peace. –Z
