Two Phantoms

The Kingfish has an excellent post on our useless senator David Vitter, and how Barack Obama is having to do his job for him. Meanwhile one of my activist acquaintances has sent me an e-mail on our similarly useless representative Bobby Jindal. The message is important since Congressman Jindal is believed by some to be an organized person who might be able to rescue us from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He is also not entirely white, which makes some people believe he may not be entirely reactionary. Here is the e-mail, entitled Bobby Jindal, The Phantom Congressman Who Wants to be Governor.

If you think it’s hard finding out how David Vitter votes, try finding information on Bobby Jindal. Of course, Jindal supporters are quick to remind everyone that Jindal is a Rhodes Scholar, ergo he’s ipso facto intelligent. (Rhodes Scholars like Latin.) Well maybe so, but George W. Bush, a President who can’t tell his anal orifice from a crevice in the earth, graduated from Yale.

The buzz-on-the-blogs is that the media is hiding how Jindal voted on H.R. 1591 — “The U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans’ Care, Katrina Recovery, and Iraq Accountability Act 2007.”

Your Right Hand Thief says, “Jindal dutifully followed the GOP party line, and voted “Nay” on the resolution.” YRHT’s efforts to confirm the vote with Jindal’s office yielded no answer. YRHT writes:

“…I called Jindal’s local office to ask how he voted and what his position was on the bill. The person I spoke with didn’t know what I was referring to, and told me to call his D.C. office. When I called them they put me on hold while they “checked” on what his position was, and how he voted. After a surprisingly long wait, they said they didn’t have any information at that time about his vote or his stance, and that they would send me a letter explaining his position…”

Now this isn’t rocket science for a Rhodes Scholar and his scholarly staff. He either voted for it or he voted against it. More importantly, the media should not be trying to “create” an electable persona for Jindal. Finally, Bobby, quit playing politics with Louisiana soldiers!

Axé.
