Terrorism, Mezcal, Trade Winds

1. What is terrorism? Who is and who is not classified as a terrorist? Why? CubaCentral says this:

The first terrorist attack in this hemisphere targeting an aircraft was perpetrated by Luis Posada Carriles against a Cuban airliner, and the United States, which has its own experience with airborne terror, should be certifying Posada as a terrorist and detaining him, not allowing him to go free. This sends a terrible signal to the rest of the world about our credibility in the fight against terrorism and whether we operate with a double standard when it comes to terrorists and Cuba.

2. If, on the other hand, we were in the D.F. by 17 May, we could go to the unveiling of ACENTOS, a new magazine of culture, art, literature, and music, from Editorial Thélema. There will be a mezcal tasting courtesy of La Botica. Jueves 17 de mayo, 8 PM, at La terraza del Zócalo / Plaza de la Constitución 13 / Sexto Piso / Centro Histórico.

3. For the summer this site will become yet more purely recreational, and posting may be slower. I will be posting notes of interest on criticism and theory at my new research site, rather archly entitled Seminario Permanente de Teoría y Crítica. Don’t let the Spanish title worry you – the site’s main language is English).

So that I can actually see and use them, I have moved my most purely research related links from this site to that one. If you miss those, or if you have a taste for the kind of post going up at the ‘Permanent Seminar,’ go on over and check it out. We will still have interesting intellectually, artistically, politically, and whimsically oriented commentary here.

Axé.
