François Villon

I

I have lately been impressed because it has been in the high sixties at night and the high seventies to high eighties during the day. This is lovely, cool, October weather here, and civilized weather for me.

But this evening it is raining and downright cold, certainly weather for long sleeves. It has not been so cold since well before Easter, which makes this a landmark day. We have begun our November weather.

The house is a raised Louisiana cottage and the pipes run underneath it. When I go to San Francisco in December I will leave the water dripping so that they do not freeze and break. The banana trees will turn brown. The bird bath which marks the grave of the Xicana cat will fill with ice. We will consider the second lai of François Villon:

Sur Noël, morte saison,
Que les loups se vivent du vent
Et qu’on se tient en sa maison…

1. Dennis Kucinich is the only Democrat running for President who voted against the Patriot Act.

2. One Belacqua Jones writes: “Every Western value we hold near and dear comes to us from the Middle East. . . . The only value indigenous to the West is genocide. . . . The West is the fulfillment of human destiny, which could well be our extinction.” Read the whole post.

3. I am changing back into myself at the speed of light.

4. A test will tell you which ancient language you are. I am Linear B.

Axé.

  1. Yeah. Tomorrow I have to go into the city to hand in my signatures to affirm me as a senate candidate. This has all happened all so very fast. I can’t believe it.

  2. Well, in the sense that I get the chance to run free, spreading my own brand of propaganda for the advancement of human society — it is.

  3. Here are my results:

You are Linear B. Even those who can follow you think you’re all Greek to them. Which, after all, is true – Linear B being the first known text for written Greek. To most people, you’re incomprehensible. But what do you care? You’re tough, hard, long-enduring and have greater nobility than most. Naturally, you don’t admit to borrowing extensively from your brother Linear A.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 99% on Ideogramatic

You scored higher than 99% on Syllablic

You scored higher than 99% on Logogramic

You scored higher than 99% on Alphabetic

And congratulations to scratchy888. I agree, it IS a big deal.

  4. So it just means that Melissa and I scored *highest* (although not 99%) in those four categories, to get assigned Linear B?
