I won a prize today in my piece of the academic industrial complex. C’est un valuable prize. I have won prizes as valuable before, but never when I needed them as much as I do this one. And it being the weekend, and I not having renounced pleasure for Lent, we will seriously sing.

Gracias y’all! And isn’t this term, “academic industrial complex,” wonderful? At last I know where I work. I cannot believe I did not come up with this term myself … especially since way back in graduate school one of my classmates’ husband pointed out that joining a graduate program was like joining an officers’ training program, and that our graduate program most closely resembled the Marines.
