1. Here is an interesting short film and film site. 265,000 of 4,500,000 Louisianians speak French at home.
2. I am watching City of God. Have you seen it? I am finding it rather flat, but this is perhaps because I already know a lot about Rio de Janeiro slums, have seen other films on them, and a whole lot of news footage.
3. I think we should all consider meeting in Kingston in June. I have been to Trinidad and adored it. People said that if I liked Port of Spain, I would like Kingston.
Axé.
I have become aware of some of the amazing coincidences that link us, one of them being Trinidad. I am not a Trinidadian, but I lived and studied there for several years, got married there, and eventually obtained permanent resident status (although that must have expired by now). I collaborate with Trinidadian bloggers, and have created One Day for the Watchman (http://onewatchman.wordpress.com) as a Trinidadianized, less academic spin off of Open Anthropology. I have not had occasion to say so yet, but yours is one of my favourite blogs and I visit here often. Thanks for all of your writing.
And thank you for your visit, Maximilian!!! Your new blog is great!!! (And I love Trinidad.)
