It is the weekend, so we must sing. The best songs are Chicago blues. “Snatch it back and hold it,” sings Junior Wells, and I have seen him sing it in person. I have an idea of what the phrase means but I would like a precise explanation. A more muted, later night song is “Chitlin’ con carne.”
Axé.
I hate to think what that might mean. I love Chicago Blues and heard a lot of it in the 60’s when we lived in Madison, Wisconsin. There was a night club called The Pirate Ship where we hung out.
I attribute my present hearing loss to a concert at the University by the Butterfield Blues Band that left my ears aching for days.
