Moraes Moreira now has dental implants and I would really like to study the way in which he deploys and is deployed by Brazilian cultural nationalist discourses.
Baby Consuelo became Baby do Brasil after going on a pilgrimage to Santiago. She then converted to Protestantism and is now a pastor. She has long, violet hair.
There is a bossa nova singer I didn’t know about, Joyce Moreno, and there are videos of her in the 70s which really remind one how naturally madonna like women were supposed to be then.
She still tours, played Yoshi’s in Oakland last summer, looks well, and published a book about 15 years ago which apparently has fascinating portrayals of different Brazilian musicians; it is entitled Fotografei você na minha Rolleiflex, which is marvelous of course.
