When you lose your temper in a large meeting, however, I sense you know that what you are doing is wrong.
Dear Faculty:
No, we cannot close down a program just because there are tenured faculty in it we don’t like.
“Grow up! This is a business!” is not the appropriate thing to say in reference to someone who has just lost their job, especially when they are sitting quietly near you.

Yes, but isn’t it fun to see the dollar signs just flicking behind their greedy little eyes? I have never been in the above situation, but I have spent far too much time among neo-liberal economists. They seem similar, that is–almost sociopathic.
@Sage, no, just an interesting meeting and commentary. Remember too, the posts are asynchronous, so this wasn’t necessarily a meeting here or today.
