People are still shocked to hear that I am only going to have enough retirement income to last 10 years, and so plan to work into my 80s since I am destined to live into my 90s.
Time off for the rest of the semester and perhaps of life is Friday 1:30 PM to Saturday 1:30 PM. Friday 1:30-5:30: have lunch, sit in sun, drink wine, eat tapas. 6-8: work out. 8-9 PM: grocery shopping for the week. 9 PM on: bands, movies.
Saturday morning: clean house, cut down latest overgrowth outdoors. 1:30: back to the office. I am a peasant, yes, but it is not bad, no.
Axé.
It sounds awesome. And what about the rest of the week? Just intensive work?
Yes, but I am working on this: find an hour in the morning to read news and things, something creative before I need to get ready to get ready for work; work out every day; recreational reading at night as well as early in the morning. When I can fit all these things in I will have arrived. Also desirable is one weekend a month where no work happens; Saturday once house is dealt with I leave for N.O. and do not come back until Sunday night.
So, this amounts to 6 and 1/2 days work/week. En plus, blanches nights reading news and things until l’aube with work-out included?. You’ll get crazy if you’re not already.
I am already crazy which is why I am trying to (a) carve out some time purely for myself; (b) take full charge of the time that isn’t recreational. This, I claim, will make me more sane.
No, only 6 days: there are 24 hours off plus more off time mornings and evenings than now.
Ahh, cruel existence. It seems that you use your free time well though. I have a time-intensive job, but when we suddenly get less busy and I leave at 5:30 and have entire 2-day weekends free, I’m never satisfied that I used it well. I do try and fit in the “sit in sun” part on the weekends…
