One of the great administrative changes that has taken place is that in my main department, my subgroup is no longer required to come to concensus on each thing any individual wants to do before the faculty at large and the chair will consider approving it.

For years this had been the bottleneck, designed to keep people in said subgroup at each others’ throats while preventing any movement forward from what we had which was a bad imitation of whatever we had in the 1950s.

The result is that for the first time ever, I am not beset by warring señoritos or their annoying and exhausting attempts to stir discord and curry favor. Deo gratias.
