A Radical Thought on Time Management

I do not “manage time” as well as I once did and it is because at a certain point, I realized it was not possible.

I do not have the power to make the kinds of decisions I have been able to make on use of time I have had in other academic jobs I have had. My surrender to this situation was too radical, but my point stands.

Now I have had a thought: is the idea that with “time management” everything can be done a myth created by administrations and professors in well protected positions, to justify overloading the TAs with work?

What if the point of preaching about “time management” is just to justify overloading the TAs and adjuncts, and not tenuring the assistant professors you have harassed to death?

I am tagging Marc Bosquet on this question, and anyone else who wishes to consider it.

Axé.
