Un retrato sorprendente

Tonight my student took a picture of our class “to document ourselves since we are a historical event: the first course ever given on [genre] at this university.”

This was after I spent a weekend writing a curriculum for a new major. Earlier this semester I had been informed that my courses on [genres, topics] had been the first given here when I arrived.

Now I realize I also wrote the whole curriculum for my main department. It’s as though the entire place had been created by me.

I never thought of myself as a pioneer or as a curriculum development person. That I have put so much energy and ingenuity into creating programs is surprising, but to be a pioneer is moreso.

Axé.
