I’d love to have a mellifluous and victorious name like this, to have victory against all machinations. But I can see I am going into an opera phase and I need it, to keep up spirits now that the Legislature and more entities are working at near full speed against all of our best interests. I’ve never been to Italy but have heard and read a lot about it. And its history, art, practical intelligence, grace and fun of its people have always made me want to visit and stay forever, if I could. I never studied the language and even though Italians are renowned for their ability to communicate, my native language is so distant that I fear I would never be able to understand. I adore the musicality of its sounds and its waves accompanying the “allegro andante” of beautiful hands trying to enhance and modulate the perception of their vibrating feelings.
I have travelled quite a bit and always felt more comfortable and energized in four-seasons countries. The passing of time reflected on nature’s changes have inspired me to pursue unexpected challenges in a personal life coloured by motivation, enriching human encounters and a struggle to identify and tell the difference between what’s inherently human and dignifying –if imperfect- and what, appearing so, is not. As I age, I am noticing a preference for the stability of all-in-one season countries. As my brain ages, predictability has become a treasured need. And with predictability a greater reliability on how to anticipate change and react positively to it is becoming an asset.
I had always wished to visit Italy and stay forever if I could. Maybe that is becoming part of an unaccomplished human dream. At any rate, their voices and interpretation are great.
PS. Hopefully, wordreference and google translate have made an intelligible English tranlation for me.
Dear Jinhua Chou, I marvel at your eloquent reply if English is not your first language! I enjoyed, especially, the reference to four-season countries and the not-so-subtle pun it contained. I, too, live in a country where seasons blend more or less seamlessly into one another, but I still miss the distinct transitions very much. 谢谢
