1. No matter what anyone says, it is unwise to put on your grant except as auxiliary staff or footnotes, people who have not at least passed fourth year review or about the status and progress of whose projects you do not know absolutely everything.
2. People experimenting with new programs need to learn to say to colleagues and administrators sentences like these: «I would like you to know about a potential situation so that if it becomes serious, you will not be blindsided» and «I am not asking that you do anything, but I request your advice.»
