The younger set believes in going to the mall Saturday evenings after work. Had I not been induced to try it I would not have known that today you can have DKNY jeans for the price of Lee. So here they are, the Mercer Street Skinny, which means my new look is almost complete.
I have taken almost a closet full of aging clothes to the Good Will and redesigned myself as a Scandinavian from the 70s: jeans, clunky heels, close-fitting T shirts, and Andean sweaters. These should be Icelandic, but Andean is what I have. My other pre-existing Peruvian touch is the well cut blazer in interesting colors and patterns.
If this were not so overpriced and were not by Nike I would get it to wear under an open jacket and impose my mascot on the students. Right now all I have is a shirt saying GUESS in large letters, that I bought at an open market in Huaraz.
I also gave all my shoes to the janitor we fired. They were in quite good shape, some quite new, but it was revealed to me I had been wearing the wrong size all these years and would soon regret it. Now I have exactly seven pairs of shoes, two for summer, two for winter, two for sports, and those rubber boots; nothing to dress up in and nothing for variety.
I am waiting for price reductions on the Dansko Nadine, although I would like to inspect the Frye Audra Clog before I leap. In Dansko there is also the bronze crepe boot, although again, I have never seen this item in person and so am not sure. It would substitute the Danish Boot which currently costs 3195 Swedish crowns and which I will never acquire, especially since I have never tried it on.
The new look as described above is to be my professor uniform for the foreseeable future and my decision is final. If I ever do anything fancy again that requires more, I will not have a regular suit but something like this Albert Nipon thing. It is a coat and a dress, so you can wear each separately, but when you wear them together you have an avant-garde suit which is only two pieces of clothing.
If I ever buy an overcoat again it will be camel colored. It will ideally be made of real camel hair, although it would be worth flying to Peru to buy a good one in alpaca. The camel coat will be single breasted with good lines, hanging straight from the shoulder. It will have a good neck button and be loose so one can layer clothes underneath it, but it will also be lean around the neck and shoulders so one can wear a shawl outside it, as is done in Scandinavia.
On the other hand there is this, which is hardly warm enough for Chicago but has interest.
Axé.

These DKNY jeans are really stellar, a cut way above all others, and I should consider getting more if they get even cheaper.
Calvin Klein Ultimate Skinny could be good, too, but one would have to see them. I am getting interested in these bright colored jeans, finally.
