Were the kings of Europe in the middle period (16th, 17th, 18th centuries) all curly haired or was that just the fashion for wigs? If it was fashion, how did they curl the hair — or did they only accept naturally curly hair for wigs?
Carlos II “The Bewitched” seems to have had straight or at most wavy hair, but then there are some representations where he has curly hair (and looks generally mulatto, as well).
