Why my formation is different from that of many other people

These are the main academic influences I have, I really do believe. I am not saying they are good. I am just saying I think these are the key influences for form of thought and that is why I am as I am.

Many modernists in Latin American literature nowadays do not have the kind of classical and especially Medievalist education I have.

Most people in Spanish did not do modern French studies as I did — they really didn’t. I can listen to entire complex, theoretical lectures by Leo Bersani and Denis Hollier and not miss a thing. This is how I learned to have complex, theoretical thoughts that go against the grain.

People not from São Paulo or at least Brazil are unlikely to have studied with José Miguel Wisnick, who is sophisticated in the way the two aforementioned French scholars are.

Since it is the weekend and Wisnick now also sings, we will let him take it away:

Axé.
