I was always impressed with Steen Steensen Blicher because he wrote in jysk as well as Danish, making Jutland dialect a literary language, and you could just feel the heather and the wind and the rough-hewn life waft off the page.
On the radio they are playing a very old version of this country Carnaval song from near here, and it is surely related. I can scarcely believe so many marvels exist. This is what I like about being an academic, and why I wanted to be one, just to know all these things are there to meet.
