I always like it when I can have a Mediterranean schedule as I am convinced it gives you more time in the day. Here is how I did it:
7:30 get up, drink coffee, read mail, leave
8:30 meeting, then errands
10:00 the merienda — I actually ate a whole lunch-type salad at this hour, at a boudin shack, but I had not really had breakfast and I had only had tapa-like substances for dinner the night before
10:30 home again, write for 27 minutes
11:30 to the café in the library, hold office hours and grade
3:00 meeting
4:30 home again, make and eat the comida
6:00 studio time, and I threw four platters
8:00 swimming pool, sauna
10:00 think about research ideas
11:00 prepare class
If I stop at midnight I will have done 2.5 hours of service, 4.5 hours of teaching, and 1.5 hours of research, for a workday of 8.5 hours. That is about 30% service, 50% teaching and 20% research but I am an administrative type, what can I say. Notice: I also did errands, went to the gym and the studio, and I was not rushed.
Axé.
