La semaine — and the LSAT

/ The summer writing group has started but I am not starting summer until Thursday. That means I must finish spring on Wednesday. I had hoped to finish it today but that may not be entirely possible.

/ By Thursday I must also decide about the June LSAT. My student and I were going to take it, in my case just as a form of mental conditioning since careful analysis indicates I cannot afford any form of law school. But with late registration the test will cost $267 I do not really have, or that I might want to use for studio time or any other recreational thing — and I may already have enough ways to do yoga.

/ What do I care about more, studio time or the LSAT? The LSAT! People do want me to be a nice art girl but I am a coldhearted scientist.

/ A current LSAT score is a good thing to have and June is by far the best time to take this examination. Studying for it is serious, you have to get in really good shape, so it is kind of like going on vacation. On the other hand, the writing group could serve this function.

/ In any case I must not forget to decide, and the decision must be consciously made — if I sign up, I must follow through with studying, 12.5 hours per week for 3 weeks, and if I decide not to, it must be a decision and not simply a missed deadline.

/ Under the LSAT plan I would write in the mornings, study for the LSAT in the afternoons, work out in the evenings, and take weekends off. Then, after the LSAT, I would really be in shape. In the afternoons I would conduct research, clean out files, and renovate the office and the yard; I would still take weekends off.

/ I also want to apply for a student-type job. I want to serve beer at a place like this. I want to do it for purposes of relaxation and the contrast with the rest of my life, to listen to voices and gather material for my novel, to help structure the days, and to earn money for a bicycle.

/ It is still springlike here, sunny and cool, a miracle. I was out of the house before 9 AM, very good for me. I came home for lunch, also very good for me, and I am eating brown rice and steamed vegetables from the CSA. I am filled with virtue.

Axé.
