Here it is. Iceland is the best country, and Afghanistan the worst; Maine is the best state and Louisiana the worst. Number of police employees and persons incarcerated in Louisiana are what push us over the edge but we have many other indicators of a lack of peace. Within the United States, only Louisiana comes out red in color; this is the least peaceful color and on the world map is used only for the least peaceful countries. Does this mean we are on a par with the most war-torn and mafia-ridden of the world’s countries, or only that we are notably worse than our nearest competitor in violence, Tennessee?
Axé.
