A light post

I might need a present.

One of the beds, which I bought in late graduate school and was wonderful, is having some trouble with the slats and has no headboard. I could repair the slats if I got the right burlap and staples but it would still have no headboard. I am shopping. I have had that bed for many years. The frame folds, so I can take it apart, and repair it and keep it for some future phase.

In Portland, I could go to Missioncraft but it is far away and I do not know whether they do mail order. I like this, for $550 (the Carmel bed). These are beautiful, but far too expensive. Then there is this, which is quite reasonable. Shall I look further? I want a platform bed with a headboard, and I have not decided whether it should have a foot; I tend to think not, but it looks beautiful with it.

Then: Solstice (Craftsman and good, $600), Thyme (in cherry or oak — and it is $429 on Amazon). There is also this which should not be too expensive.

My mind seems clearer now. Part of why I want this frame is for guests. I can also rearrange the room so that they don’t need a headboard, if I do not buy this in time. I am saying Carmel or Solstice at this point, but perhaps I can do better.

Axé.
