More mundanely: I resigned from a lot of committees and service projects, for reasons I could explain, and felt odd about not resigning from them all, because my efforts seem Quixotic and I am not sure they are even wanted. But I see–keeping the ones I did was a political choice.
In other words, I’ve made certain choices before that are best understood as political ones although I considered them questions of taste at the time, and I’m taking this to be a political one, too.
