I am not going out on any limb for any student of any kind, ever again. They can be abused, stalked, whatever, by other faculty and I will not stand up for them. The reason is that every person I have ever really stood up for, and sacrificed for (because the system does abuse you if you stand up for victims), has ended up kicking me in the teeth. My door is closed permanently.
I have long had this policy on faculty, because those who want support are people who would not support anyone else (“it could be dangerous for me, you may not realize that,” they typically say in their self-serving and condescending way).
