Professor Zero

This is my anniversary, and I am very happy about it. Do you want to know who I am? See my first post.

When I started this weblog, I did not expect anyone to read it. I did imagine readers, if only because I wanted to write something readable. I did not expect to find actual ones. Yet I did find readers, from whom I have learned a great deal. I would like to say thank you.

My original profile said that the purpose of this blog was “to keep our eyes on what’s essential, and throw out the trash.” That is why I like terse, almost allegorical posts, which have already been boiled clear. It is a challenge to boil something clear every day.

I wanted to teach myself here to write again without equivocation, and with less caution. I wanted to reconstruct the serious scholar I was before I began working in the sorority tea party of ‘academia’, and before I felt forced to compromise with it. I wanted to regain the sense of self I had before Reeducation.

I knew the blog would be a good exercise. I did not expect it to work as well as it has, especially for this last purpose. It turned out to have real axé. Iansan, Oxum and Ogum, guardians and protectors of this space, spread axé to all of its readers.

Axé, everybody!

Axé.
