To the CAC

It is sunny here and cool enough for me to sleep with the windows open, and ride my bicycle. On the weekend we rode everywhere, I ate shrimp on a stick. I am still grading and not able to go to the CAC tomorrow night, but I hope you can. Here is key information from the invitation I received:

V TO THE 10th/SUPERLOVE LAUNCH PARTY.
Hosted by the Katrina Warriors Network.
7 pm. Tuesday, December 11, 2007.
Contemporary Arts Center (CAC).
900 Camp Street, New Orleans, LA 70130.
RSVP: katrinawarriors@cox.net.

Please feel welcome to bring friends, and to extend this invitation to people in your cultural, professional, and activist networks. V-Day is focusing on New Orleans and the Gulf South.

On Tuesday the Katrina Warriors Network will host a gathering with V-Day Founder and Artistic Director Eve Ensler and her colleagues featuring many new details about the planning for Superlove and V to the 10th — a.k.a. the planetary 10th anniversary of V-Daytaking place in New Orleans 11-12 April 2008.

This is your opportunity to learn about V to the 10th events and become involved in rallying New Orleans around what all involved intend to be a healing, transformational event for our city and our region. Local artists, businesses, and non-profits can become involved by planning and hosting (and profiting from) officially affiliated events in late March and early April 2008, and by vending.

The Katrina Warriors Network is the diverse body of individuals, affinities, organizations, and institutions doing work to support and enhance the well-being of women and girls in New Orleans and the Gulf South. Founding nodes of the Katrina Warriors Network: Ashe Cultural Arts Center, Newcomb College Center for Research on Women, The New Orleans Regional Alliance Against Abuse (2005-2006), and V-Day.

The Katrina Warriors also have a Yahoo Group, which they invite you to join. And remember, a diverse Katrina Warriors Network is a strong Katrina Warriors Network!

The winter sun is so deep and beautiful.

Axé.

  1. A lot going on in our neck of the woods, too. It is so wonderful here. I spent the morning out in the jungle (my backyard) pruning, weeding, mulching.

Just got my copy of Michel-Rolph Trouillot’s *Global Transformations.* It’s a disappointment, seems like a bunch of lectures thrown together. I thought his *Silencing the Past* was a breakthrough.
