Delle Venezie

I am on strike because two of my three advertisers have not paid me. They say there is a check in process, but my first advertiser sent me a check post haste. I am not pleased, although I am not yet so displeased as to reveal the renegade advertiser’s names. I am nevertheless on strike, so we will not sing.

However, since I am in effect providing free advertising for two companies, I might as well endorse a product of my own choosing: Candoni Pinot Grigio, from the Venetian region. Forsooth, I had never met a white wine I actually liked before this.

Some will say it is just a table wine, which is true — I am sure it is possible to acquire yet better wines, if one has a better financial situation than I. Others will say I should not spend so much for a table wine, but I utterly disagree. Worse wines than this one, especially if white, are for undergraduates, palateless individuals, and alcoholics only. Any trained wine steward will explain that you can do far better in terms of quality with a beer.

The Candoni bottle is very beautiful, covered with Etruscan scenes. When I finish it I do not really want to recycle it. This wine cost me $11 but you can apparently buy an entire case of it for $108 (plus tax and shipping, I assume).

Perhaps I can bargain with the store where I bought it. This has, in any case, been my strike action for today, donating free advertising to Candoni.

Axé.

  1. I discovered a new invention at the mall today — electronic cigarettes. So I will advertise those, too:

I will have to find another sinful product to advertise for free, since good things should come in threes. We’ve had wine and tobacco, so I guess sex is next. Stay tuned, I’ll try to come up with something good.

  2. Negative advertising: join me in boycotting the Office Depot and CC’s cafes, and any other business which will not let you just buy something but gives long spiels on how you should buy a larger one or more things, a pastry, a ridiculously expensive extended warranty, and so on.
