My Letter to Barack

I am not convinced it matters any more that politicians have our support, so my correspondence with Presidents is now utterly postmodern.

Dear Mr. President,

Due to your plans for Afghanistan and renewal of the Patriot Act, I have removed all remnants of November 2008 materials from all of my premises. I have disassociated myself from you on Facebook, and told all my friends. I regret taking these steps, but you have left me no alternative.

For reasons having to do with state politics I am still a registered Democrat. Please do not misconstrue this as an indication of support for your activities.

Yours very truly,
Citizen Zero

Axé.

  1. Hahaha, yeah. You know what else, Barack?

That whole thing where I spent months of my life doing little else but either 1) running canvasses for your campaign, or 2) preparing to run canvasses for your campaign? And sacrificed professional opportunities in order to do this?

    I TAKE IT BACK.

…you know what this does not make me feel any better.

  2. Don’t beat yourselves up. Give yourself credit instead. You got an African-American into the White House. You should be proud of that.

  3. True enough and it was more fun than electing Hillary to do the same things, but beat *ourselves* up?! How about him?! I was a Kucinich person while it was still an option — I was for a white guy.
