Now the Internet has been installed at my house, on a very advanced and inexpensive system. The man who came to install it was of German and Polish extraction.
He had a differently Southern accent, quite beautiful as many Southern accents are. I thought he was from Kentucky, but he was from central Texas.
Axé.
I love different accents! You would like the accents here in NZ. There is the Maori and then there is the far North Auckland one, or something indescribable from the interior south island. Many more too. Also, there is one from just north of Wellington (where I live) that sounds like a piece of chocolate cakes tastes. This last one is from the Hutt valley and they all think they talk common-like and are bemused at my delight. My American accent generally pleases people here (Los Angeles with a hint of North Carolina [long story]).
Hurrah for internet! Does it work well? Now maybe you won’t need your paper phone book anymore 🙂
Mark — I would definitely love the NZ accents! Human, yes, it’s fast, mesmerizing, and dangerous, but I still prefer to look up on paper what I can!
