From the Jar

When you put the pasta in to boil, put fresh vegetables in with it. Sliced squash is good. While this boils, put fresh spinach into the colander in which you will drain the pasta and squash. Chop fresh herbs and put them into a bowl. Add a small amount of marinara sauce and some grated cheese of an appropriate type, or some sesame seeds or sliced raw almonds. Drain the pasta, whereby you will also steam the spinach. Place these in the bowl and toss.

It is a secret but I have begun using marinara sauce from a jar. It must be a good brand, you must use it sparingly, and you must use good brands of pasta, olive oil, and cheese. In these circumstances marinara sauce from the jar can work well, keeping one from going or calling out at those times when one is too tired even to cut tomatoes correctly for pasta or make marinara sauce from canned tomatoes.

Axé.

  1. Very clever piece of cookery. With a little shopping and the right ingredients, it’s easy to put together a good meal in 1/2 hour.
