El calor

We are on a heat advisory and I am perusing swimwear. I do not intend to actually acquire swimwear, as I own a piece of it already. Still, we can observe the Jantzen fit guide which is quite interesting.

I’ll bet the vamp model (page 2) would seem like too much material to me, but I like the bandeau maillot (page 3). Perhaps the 4-way tie vamp tankini (page 4) would be the way to finally get me into a tankini (whose point as opposed to maillots I do not really understand).

I like both tops on page 7, but especially the bandeau, and the mid-waist bottom on page 8. I think I am too old for the side tie now (page 9), but I like it. And I love the 1954 ad on page 12.

I am going to have to change my menus for the heat, as well. It is too hot even to eat yogurt. From now on I will live only on salad and vegetable vinaigrette. I will turn the stove on for short periods, just to boil water.

With this water I will make coffee and tea, and I will steam vegetables and occasional shrimp. Otherwise I will live on kombucha and kærnemælkskoldskål. In Spain I would buy this gazpacho.

Axé.

  1. Have you ever tried the swimwear from Land’s End? They have some really attractive models, but since it’s a catalogue, I’m not sure whether I’ll look like Betty Boop or as a “matrona”.

  2. Yes. They’re actually really good on being the size they say they are (look at their sizing charts and follow them) and they’re good on returns. They try to have things for a variety of shapes and styles, and their tugless tank seems to fit everyone.
