Circuits, withal

I think one of the electrical circuits in the house is going, as lights have been browning out. This circuit appears to rule the living room, the hall and the air conditioning.

Can I still use these things while they are partially functional, as they are now, or must I unplug everything until this wire is replaced? Is anything likely to blow up?

How long can I wait to fix this? Will it help in the meantime to put in ecological light bulbs, that use fewer watts?

Axé.

      1. WI, I am all for the state of Wisconsin and for Lake Michigan, but that comment was kind of hostile and kind of raunchy and I have edited it out. –Z

  1. Try unplugging the more power-hungry appliances and see if that helps. The dryer and a/c should be on separate circuits from the rest, since they are often on 220V wiring. I would call an electrician, though, since a bad circuit could be dangerous (I think).

    1. Dayum, circuits still zinging and the problematic one seems to rule the refrigerator, too! 😉 Close encounters with the Third World and a real salary less than what I made 20 years ago… !

  2. Gracias!!! I turned the circuit breakers off for a while, then turned them back on with eco-bulbs, and this seemed to work. I’m still getting it checked out though. 🙂

    1. That’s fantastic that you got everything fixed. Enjoy while it lasts!. And ‘de nada’

  3. Now it’s the pilot light in the oven. Which is gas. So who knows – the house is on strike – perhaps it misses my cat – I do.

  4. Z,
There was nothing hostile nor raunchy in that comment. But you are free to leave your brain think what it wants. Needless to say that this is your blog and you can do whatever you like with the posted comments that don’t appear to go with your way of thinking. Thanks.

  5. So it got even worse and I had a brilliant thought and called the electric company – and they showed up, in the night time yet, and it turned out to be a problem with the wires out in the street. Yay!
