When I was a child, after sailing to Europe on the M.S. Aurelia we had lunch at the Hostellerie Cro-Magnon, in the Dordogne. This was so as to visit caves allegedly painted by Cro-Magnon men. Only now have I realized that Cro-Magnon man was named after the more modern name of the region.
The Hostellerie Cro-Magnon had, if I remember correctly, a star in the Michelin guide and served an excellent lunch. As I say, I can hardly believe it has taken me until now to put all of this together.
I am teaching a course on revolutions so I have nothing to say but long live the Republic. Yo quiero patria libre o morir.
Axé.
Oh, goodie. My favorite grad course at Reed was with Darius Rejali and was entitled Comparative Revolutions.
But, isn’t Cro-Magnon-ness yet more thrilling? 😉
