My mother had quite a collection of New Orleans Jazz on 78s. That’s what I listened to, growing up. That and cowboy music.
We had Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie on 78s, and on LP Woody Guthrie and Bill Monroe! Some more modern things too, but those listed were fundamental!
And – re not letting Carnival go – the radio is playing quiet Carnival music and commiserating with those of us who still have “makeup on our faces and feathers all over the house.”
