Mornings in Mexico

My patio in Mexico City

Here we are looking out my window in México, D.F. Some things I must not fail to do this week are:

Monday
Investigate issues with Linux and Oracle half done
Investigate issues involving lodging for study abroad half done;what I really must do to finish this is locate great newspaper kiosks, wherever there may be any left, and good cafés near these. Perhaps we will make serious use of certain Péndulo bookstores; I have seen some pretty good kiosks in the Zona Rosa and on Álvaro Obregón; others in Condesa but some days, this will have to be a form of scavenger hunt, I do believe; I am calling this done.
Investigate Casa Lamm and Colonia Roma branch of the bookstore Péndulo ended up at different Péndulo and then just strolling — when I finally do go I must also go to the Casa Universitaria del Libro  Roma branch has more and better books.
Acquire minor groceries half done

Tuesday
Investigate issues with Ubuntu One
Investigate Biblioteca Miguel Lerdo de Tejada Excellent, must return
Acquire ticket to Sabina Berman’s play Sold out; I need a scalper
Take silver to be fixed
In barrio chino, search for Chinese allergy remedies
Investigate prepaid cell phones
Call Veracruz
Cita 5 PM tránsito de Venus

Wednesday
Work on computer files
Acquire bus ticket to Veracruz
Investigate Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas
Call my T.A. in United States
Cita 5 PM ¡facial!

Thursday
Investigate free bicycles
Investigate biblioteca nacional
Investigate Casa Citaltéptl Stellar, must return
Have nails done
Continue acquiring films for course (see this book) Films with subtitles are as expensive as at home so I will buy from there. I must remember to do this, start doing it as soon as I get home.

Friday
Try to find those two writers half done, and I am leaving the other to chance or next year, although I do mean to go to readings over the next two weeks
Take skirt to tailor
Work on fiction Started, keep going
Film Gimme the Power
More academic work and galleries, in particular those in Sta. Ma. La Ribera

Weekend
I want to wander around in the Mercado de la Merced and that neighborhood, in Sta. María La Ribera, and on the square at Coyoacán. I would also be interested in participating in Sunday’s municipal bicycle ride (assuming I can get hold of a bicycle to use). I have not actually been right on the Zócalo yet or in those certain galleries I like downtown.

I want to visit Tlaxcala, perhaps on a weekend, and Taxco, perhaps on a weekday. I have to get my nails done again, and my hair dyed, and look at clothes. Also, you can get a lifting facial and I want one.

In the midst of all of this I am doing regular academic work, of course, before starting each day’s agenda and also during breaks. I must also work on paper correspondence, and update membership in professional societies. And, I am curious to visit some of the fancier branches of the Librería Porrúa – the matriz on Rep. Argentina, for instance, and the branch by the Colegio Nacional. I have not even browsed the FCE bookstore yet. I want to go to the Casa del Poeta.

Axé.

  1. I love your patio and wonder (reading your plans) if you have a honey. Life must be even more beautiful and enjoyable.

  2. Hattie – good, although that isn’t the purpose of this blog, as you know. “Karl” – I am a skull on a stela at Copán.

  3. what are the items already eliminated? Done or what?. Thursday hasn’t come yet, I think
