I want books by Pico Iyer and Lisa Cohen, and I have to buy El espejo enterrado (Alfaguara 2010) for the culture course. I believe I already have another book I ordered for that class:

I may also need a copy of the anthology I expected to use for the course on Spain, and that appears to be out of print; I am going to have to go to campus tomorrow and see what my flyer alleged I would do in that class.
What are you using for the survey of modern Spanish literature (1700-present)? The first half of the survey was taught with this anthology, which is abridged and modernized, so anything I do will be a shock and I certainly cannot have the students read whole books.
I have looked online for other peoples’ syllabi and most use stodgy anthologies and are stodgy in general. I want to give a course rather like this, although perhaps with different texts. I have used volume 2 of the Ellis anthology (Routledge, 1995) and have not wanted to do Voces de España because it is so expensive and we would not read it all. Examination copies, however, are now winging their way to me. What do you do?

Do you have a Kindle? I’m a book lover, too, but the books are cheaper on Kindle. The Cohen book is fantastic. It’s worth getting now and paying the money for it.
No Kindle here, at least not yet. I’ll get the Cohen book and leave the Iyer for later.
