When you donate online to Veterans for Peace you can check a box if the gift is in memory of someone, and leave a note. I checked the box, filled in the space with the name, and wrote:
_______, 1920-2013, 1st Lieutenant U.S.A., 101st Airborne 1942-1946, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, in lieu of flowers asked for donations to Veterans for Peace.
This was prompted by the funeral program but it is also appropriate now, as we commemorate the anniversary of the second Iraq war. I am asking for further donations to Veterans for Peace.
